PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Bryan Polke, 56, of North Providence, R.I., was indicted by a federal grand jury Wednesday on one count of knowingly stealing from the Veterans Administration Hospital two computers and two monitors, of a value over $1,000, belonging to the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.

The indictment was announced by U.S. Attorney Peter F. Neronha. An indictment is merely an allegation and a defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

If convicted, the defendant faces penalties of up to 10 years in prison; 3 years supervised release; and a $250,000 fine.

The matter was investigated by the Providence Veterans Administration Police and the Office of Inspector General.  The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Zechariah Chafee.
